Things to do in Santorini

Two days activities:

The first day you may take the walking path that goes from Firostefani to Fira city center following the rim of the caldera. Your first stop will be the famous blue church 50m. from our hotel, just above Mama Thira restaurant, the most pictured church of Santorini. Just a few minutes later you will arrive at Nomikos Conference Center, a red building, old castle from where you may admire a panoramic view of Fira City and the old port. Continue further forward and you will arrive at the cable car. From the old port you may take the small excursion boat to visit the volcano, hot springs, Thirasia and sail back from Oia during sunset time. Depending on the type of excursion you choose you may also enjoy a romantic dinner onboard. (You can buy your tickets at the reception).

Alternatively, you may spend the rest of the day visiting the archeological museum (just opposite the cable car) and the prehistoric museum located above the central bus station in Fira. At the prehistoric museum you can admire the famous frescos of Akrotiri and all the excavated items from the lost city due to the volcanic explosion of 1700 BC. Watch the sunset from the main square in front of the Orthodox Cathedral. All nightlife is in Fira so if you feel like you may drink cocktails at Franco’s Bar under the sounds of classical music or try the mainstream nightclubs “KOO CLUB” and “ENIGMA CLUB”.

Second day starts with the delicious homemade breakfast at Manos Small World. You may try a visit at the Archeological site of Akrotiri. The old city remains there for you to explore. Preserved from the volcanic ashes the old city of Akrotiri is still alive. You may walk through the ancient paths and visit the remaining ancient houses. Red beach is the next stop after Akrotiri. Just a few min. away is one of the most romantic beaches of the island. You will have to climb a few rocks in order to arrive. Perivolos, Perissa (black beach) or Kamari would be a nice option for your next visit, go there for swimming and enjoy local flavors at the restaurants and tavernas around.(For recommendations and reservation do not hesitate to ask at the reception desk). End the day by visiting Oia for the sunset. Hurry up to get yourself a nice spot for picture shooting at the old castle of Oia. If you like an unforgettable experience visit Ammoudi Bay for dinner after the sunset.

Since you have seen enough of the island it is quite sure that you will decide to stay another day. The best thing to do is to have a wine tour. Santorini is very well known for the tasteful white wine (Assyrtico) and there are several traditional wineries producing it. Argyros estate has the oldest Vinsanto the most famous sweet wine of Santorini. Impressing is also Koutsouyannopoulos Wine Museum where you may explore the traditional way of making wine.

Santo Wines is the nicest place to watch the sunset while winetasting. You may also buy local products such as fava beans and tomato pate. Exploring Santorini never ends…. hotel stuff is always at your disposal for more tips and information.
